SARAH BROCKUS
To me, there is nothing on earth like performing or presenting on the LIVE stage. When it’s LIVE, you communicate at a heightened level of being that is transformative. When it’s LIVE you have to be “in the moment” listening intently and free to react as if it’s the first time you are in that place and time. When it’s LIVE, all of your energy to entertain, inspire, educate and connect comes back in spades from audiences who are changed by the experience.
My passion is to create unique and inventive program content for deep intellectual and visceral impact. You give me the theme, goals and objectives for your conference, and I’ll develop a multi-day journey that breeds inspired brand loyalty.
I create what I like to call an “ethos” journey learning how to meet attendees where they are and inspire them to walk out the door with passion toward action for the future. Programming on the large stage is the jumping off point toward deeper engagement in “experience halls”, energize sessions, pop-ins and more.
Specialties
My specialty is LIVE performance and presentation for the large stage. I integrate powerful music, riveting performing arts and authentic live presentation techniques throughout, elevating the experience to another level.
Performing Arts
- I have a keen eye toward finding the right type of arts or group that reflects the best quality and/or “goodwill” to enhance your organization or company message.
- I live in NYC and have my hand on the pulse of the performing arts world as all international and national groups have to “make it” here before they can book tours elsewhere. I also have access to a sea of high quality B and C list performers that are the best kept secrets of the industry.
Presentation
- I coach all level of speakers from seasoned professionals such as CEO’s, Presidents and General Secretaries to young professionals just cutting their teeth as presenters.
- My goal for all speakers is to help them find their authentic voice so they project not only an exciting message but unique personality that connects easily to each person in the room.
- I specialize in working with presenters on the large stage, which has great opportunities and challenges.
EXPERIENCE
I’ve spent the last 10 years creating programs, integrating performing arts, coaching, stage directing and producing for conferences from 200 to 8,000 concentrating mostly on events for 2,000+.
- I’ve guided teams to create program journeys that connect different experiences in each space for a holistic effect.
- I’ve helped organizations successfully look at their whole conference picture to reduce expenses while raising the creative bar.
- From hotels to universities, to larger venues like the Anaheim Convention Center and the Americas Center in St. Louis, I’ve worked with all sizes, shapes and technical challenges.
- I’ve recruited, booked and integrated multiple, unique performing arts groups around the country from aerial dance to roots music to theatrical comedy groups to name performers.
- I’ve coached Presidents, CEO’s, General Secretaries and young professionals as well as amateur volunteers for big and small stages.
- I’ve produced and stage directed in spaces with budgets ranging from $200,000 to $3.4 million.
Before “going large” in the conference world I built a wide range of skills through my own journey of performing in and producing LIVE.
- As well as a Bachelor's from Rice University, I received a Masters in Music from the Cincinnati-Conservatory of Music, one of the top ten graduate programs in the country for opera performance, and appeared in several regional operas throughout the country.
- I studied acting with one of the leaders of the original “group theater“ movement, Robert Lewis, and THE method acting guru in NYC, Uta Hagen. I performed in dramas, comedies and musicals in multiple regional theaters throughout the country and in NYC.
- I acted in multiple national television commercials and appeared in Law and Order episodes. I was a key character in a series of commercials that won an Effie Award for effectiveness in advertising.
- I stage directed, produced and/or managed marketing for theaters ranging from Broadway, to Off Broadway, to London’s West End, to my own company in NYC which nurtured young writers and received positive reviews from the NY Times.
- I co-wrote and directed touring productions that integrated post 9/11 interviews of New Yorkers with inspirational music and dance.
